Academia is known for its academic focus and community involvement. Academia Secondary School was established on January 22, 1975, in the Academia suburb of Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. It started modestly with 19 staff members and 227 pupils in Standards 5 to 7 (equivalent to Grades 7-9 today), under the leadership of Principal PJ Scholtz. Over the decades, it has grown into a key educational institution in the region, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025.
